ENVIREDOX

Industrial pollution, a burning issue
ENVIREDOX not only uses emerging electrolytic technologies to treat special industrial wastes, but tries to ensure that all relevant actors work jointly on its effective implementation.
It may be hard to believe, but at least 50% of industrial wastes (cyanuric waters, lubricants and emulsions from machinery, wasted grease solvents, waters with ink, glue, paint, etc.) usually require a very complex treatment, with current physicochemical purification techniques showing remarkable inefficiency. Most of times their destination is an incineration or an evaporation-incineration, not welcome by the public in many regions and, furthermore, characterised by a high energy consumption with these types of wastes.
ENVIREDOX pretends to show the technical feasibility of a process of assimilation of industrial wastes (incompatible with biological treatment) to urban treatment by means of the application of electrolytic oxidation techniques. Initially, the process is expected to be more efficient and economic than previous oxidation or incineration.
Letīs talk about implementation of a great idea
Much more than adapting and/or demonstrating technology has to be taken into account, as the requirements of the solution are strongly dependent on waste limits and local, regional and national regulations, social dynamics and tolerance, the particular economic and industrial situation of the selected area...
Mostly at a local level, advances in developments and applications need to be participated by all decision-makers of accepting waste conditions and promote common infrastructures for the treatment of residuals (technicians from the companies, managerial federations, technical centres, municipalities, social agents, etc). The final implementation should, therefore, be specific to the circumstances of each area and to the criteria considered as relevant by these agents.
Joining forces
Different areas, different actors. The ENVIREDOX consortium joins technical centres, universities, managerial federations and companies, and has municipalities, social agents, regional development agencies and local authorities as observers.
A sound participation methodology will ensure that all formal and informal requirements from this agents are met in the technology transfer process.
Innovation Projects making an impact
Beyond laboratory results, the ENVIREDOX project will validate industrial applications of an emerging technology to treat different kinds of residuals. in each region, the conditions for their implementation will be agreed by the forums where all the relevant decision-makers are expected to participate. The forum model and the involvement and participation methodology will be one of the main outcomes of the project, suitable in other fields where strong social interaction with technology solutions is foreseen.
